In the River Ridge School District, our curriculum consists of a combination of several academic standards. The selection of the academic standards is based on what our professionals have determined that students should know and be able to do in their classrooms. In our selection process of academic standards, our first priority is to provide our students with a solid foundation regardless of the name of the academic standards. Therefore, we prioritize selection of our academic standards based on student need while they are in school as well as what they will need beyond the K-12 system.
The foundation of our academic standards is taken from the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards. The Wisconsin Academic Standards are used as a source in the following subject areas:
• Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources • Art & Design Education • Business and Information Technology • Computer Science • Dance • Early Learning Standards • English Language Arts • Environmental Education • Family and Consumer Sciences • Health Education • Health Science • Information and Technology Literacy • Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship • Mathematics • Music Education • Nutrition Education • Personal Financial Literacy • Physical Education • Reading • School Counseling • Science (Next Generation Science Standards are also referenced throughout our science curriculum) • Social Studies • Technology and Engineering • Theatre Education • World Languages • Youth Apprenticeship
